Ya Allah, only You can restore my heart to it’s fitra, the pureness it was at birth, Ya Allah, please restore my heart, fill it with Love, Tranquility (peace), and Happiness (joy). Take the hardness of my heart and break down the walls with Your Grace.

Ya Allah, make me patient, kind, good, faithful, gentle and self-controlled.

Take my old emotional habits, mindsets, automatic reactions, rude assumptions, and self-protective stance. Take my selfishness, impatience, and irritability and turn them into kindness, long-suffering, and the willingness to bear all things. Ya Allah, help me to be a good wife, I fully realize that I don’t have what it takes to be one without Your help. Give me Patience to accept what I cannot change, give me the Strength to change all that I can, and the wisdom to know the difference. Ya Allah, allow me to support (husband’s name) in all the good that he does, even if I do not see it as good, allow me a clear vision of Your Plan for us. Ya Allah, give me a fruitful life and let me feel peace and tranquility in it. Ya Allah, allow my children and my husband to appreciate me and for them to remain forever by my side.

Help me to pay attention to my home, keep my vision clear of things that I may need to address through duas. Ya Allah, help me to speak wisely and kindly. Ya Allah, keep me beautiful, strong, solid and take away any fear of the effects of old age. Ya Allah, help me to be giving and conscientious about the future. Help me to keep myself healthy, strong and help me to dress attractively. Ya Allah, Help me to take care of my home and run it well. The counseling helped and it led me to a book that I "just happened" upon, The Power of a Praying Wife that completely changed my views and let me know I was the one that needed to be changed and only Allah had the Power to change me. Not only did they provide free marriage counseling services, they also had free/low cost Marriage Weekend Retreats.

Although, they were Christian in nature, it was for the community at large. In Tyler, TX, they had institutions that promoted healthy marriages, VOW is the one we used and that I am very grateful for. We, Muslims have plenty to learn from Christians and Jews whom have set up institutions to preserve their religious beliefs in a very secular country, including but not limited to schools, community centers, & social support services (we do not have to reinvent the wheel). I love the values: yes that Good Southern Hospitality, and moreover, I love their respect for God, marriage, and the family. I love the South, I truly do, I love the people, I love the lack of pretentiousness by many of them, that what you see is what you get: the sincerity.
